OpTic Gaming Wins MLG Dallas – Full Placement Results

OpTic Gaming has taken MLG Dallas after a nail-biting final series against eUnited.

eUnited came out of the losers bracket after beating FaZe Clan and faced OpTic in the grand finals not once, but twice. In the first series, OpTic had an amazing first two maps.

OG 100 point-clubbed eU in Hardpoint in the first game of the series, and then came back from a 1-5 deficit in Search and Destroy to win the map 6-5. However, FormaL was having an off series, which affected the team in the subsequent games.

OpTic just could not close out the series, and eUnited was able to rally back and clutch the reverse sweep. They won the Uplink, the second Harpoint, and the final Search and Destroy to reset the bracket.

Same as the first series, OpTic won the first two maps of the second series, but eUnited is not an easy team to put down. Lead by Gunless and Silly, eU was able to tie the series up 2-2, once again, after winning the Uplink and the second Hardpoint.

However, OpTic finally decided to close out the series in the last Search and Destroy, winning 6-0. OG was led by Karma, who put up an amazing 12-1 scoreline, which included an ace in round 4.

While their Search and Destroy game has been amazing as of late, OpTic Gaming’s Uplink was not looking very strong against eUnited. This was addressed in the post-game interview by Scumpii:

…our Uplink game was a little shaky against them. I think we had a good Uplink besides them, they were just playing really, really well — I mean granted the maps were extremely close. We had a couple weak maps that we didn’t have in ESWC so we’ll probably just try to polish off a couple of the maps that we struggled with on here.

OpTic had a strong tournament overall, finishing their pool 4-0, beating Luminosity and Splyce in rounds 1 and 2, and then 3-0ing FaZe clan in round 3 of the winner’s┬ábracket.
